A method for preparing toner containing polyester resin and wax is provided to avoid isolation of wax and stably give high image quality for a long period, and induce excellent low temperature fixing property and reproduction of microfine line by forming oil droplets containing polymeric monomer and wax, generating wax containing polyester resin particles, and condensing the particles in aqueous medium. The method comprises the steps of: forming oil droplets in aqueous medium, which contain polymeric monomer having carboxylic acid and alcohol, and wax; obtaining polyester resin particles containing wax by polycondensing the carboxylic acid and the alcohol of the oil droplets; and condensing the polyester resin particles in the aqueous medium. The aqueous medium includes surfactant having a compound containing long chain hydrocarbon group and acidic group. The acidic group of the surfactant is selected from sulfonic group, phosphoric group and carboxylic group. Density of the surfactant is less than critical micelle concentration.
