In order to overcome a weak point that a conventional rubber keypad is too soft to ensure stability of profile, a hard resin or metallic reinforcing plate has been introduced into a key unit. A frame (4a), for supporting a key group arranged on the key operating surface of a key unit (1) while surrounding the key group in a frame shape, is formed by machining the outer edge part of a hard resin or metallic reinforcing plate (4). The supporting frame (4a) is fitted in an opening provided in the housing of a mobile apparatus for fixing the key unit, for example, so that the key unit can be fixed directly to the mobile apparatus from the outside of the housing through the supporting frame. A part of the reinforcing plate (4) including the supporting frame (4a) is exposed to the outside and the exposed part is decorated so that it is utilized as a functional design element of an apparatus to be assembled including the key unit. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
