A method for inputting the alphabet in a mobile communication terminal is provided to enable a user to easily memorize an alphabet inputting scheme and thereby to enhance an alphabet inputting speed. A method for inputting the alphabet in a mobile communication terminal comprises the following several steps. In case that a main key where a group of letters to be inputted is allocated is pushed and then a subordinate key is pushed, a letter related to the main key among letters allocated to the subordinate key is inputted. In case that a subordinate key is pushed while a main key is not pushed, a letter or a symbol allocated to the subordinate key is inputted or a special function allocated to the subordinate key is performed. In case that the main key is pushed, a color of a cursor on a screen is changed into the color of the main key. The letters not related to the main key among the letters allocated to the subordinate key are not displayed. The letters, the symbols or the functions allocated to the main key or the subordinate key can be adjusted according to a user environment.
