A switched reluctance motor is provided to reduce operational noise of the rotor core by preventing overheat of the motor by forming a round portion on a front end of a protruding pole of a rotor core. A switched reluctance motor includes a stator core made of plural stacked steel plates and plural protruding poles(111b) with a coil(112), and a rotor core(121) having plural protruding poles(121b) protruding outwardly from an outer periphery thereof. The rotor core is rotatably accommodated in the stator core, with a desired gap between the stator core and the rotor core. A round portion is formed in a front end of each protruding pole so that the gap is gradually decreased.
