A device and a method for controlling an ODD(Optical Disk Drive) are provided to control an opening/closing device of the ODD by a control signal of a south bridge recognizing a switch signal. The device includes a switch(308), the south bridge(306) controlling the ODD(302) by receiving the input signal of the switch, and a controller(300) opening/closing the opening/closing part(304) of the ODD according to the control signal of the south bridge. The controller controls the opening/closing part of the ODD by checking a current state of the opening/closing part and matching with the current state.
