A method of preparing surface composites, which can overcome various demerits of a surface treatment method of a bulk material, can cope with various physical properties required in the surface of the bulk material, particularly carbon steel, and has a higher cost reduction effect, and surface composites prepared by the same are provided. A method of preparing a surface composite comprises the steps of: drying alloy or ceramic powder; coating the dried powder on the surface of a matrix formed of ordinary carbon steel; pressurizing the coated powder to densify the coated powder; and irradiating an accelerated electron beam onto a powder layer densified through pressurization, thereby melting and solidifying the powder to form a composite layer on the surface of the matrix. The alloy powder comprises at least one of CrB powder, Cr3C2 powder and STS304 powder. The alloy powder is a powder mixture obtained by dry-mixing Cr3C2 powder with STS304 powder such that 50 wt.% of the Cr3C2 powder and 50 wt.% of the STS304 powder are substantially contained in the powder mixture.
