METHOD ADJUSTING SOC FOR BATTERY AND BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING THE SAME

A method for compensating SOC(State Of Charging) of a battery and a battery management system using the same are provided to give accurate SOC of the battery to an ECU(Engine Control Unit) of a vehicle by performing the SOC compensation of the battery when an error component of the estimated SOC exceeds an allowed value. In a method for compensating SOC(State Of Charging) of a battery used in a battery management system, a first SOC of the battery and a first voltage corresponding to the first SOC are calculated by using a charge/discharge current of the battery. A base voltage of the battery is calculated by using the charge/discharge current of the battery, a voltage of the battery and an internal resistance of the battery(S402). An accumulation error corresponding to the difference between the first voltage and the base voltage is calculated. It is judged whether the calculated accumulation error is within an effective range. If the accumulation error is out of the effective range, SOC compensation is performed by adding compensation SOC to the first SOC so that the compensated SOC is within the effective range.
