PURPOSE: A motor control apparatus for a washing machine and its method are provided to prevent the washing machine from malfunction by excluding the noise effect included in the current flowing through the inverter when the main circuit board and the sub circuit board are electrically connected. CONSTITUTION: The motor control apparatus for a washing machine comprises a micom(10) embedded on the main circuit board, an inverter(17) embedded on the sub-circuit board electrically separated from the main circuit board, and a current detection unit(16) for detecting current flowing through the inverter. The inverter is controlled by the micom to apply the phase current to the motor by switching operation. The current detection unit connected to the rear part of the noise filter includes a low pass filter to pass the current in low pass range, a noise filter to remove the noise included in the direct current, and a comparator for comparing the noise removed current with the predefined current value. The noise filter connected between the power source and the ground has a plurality of diodes. The current detection unit is connected between the noise filter and the comparator and has another low pass filter. The main circuit board has a key input unit(10), a level detector(12), a display unit(13), a valve driver(14), and a rectifier(15). The sub circuit board has a speed detector(18). |
