An apparatus and a method for recording and reproducing transport stream, a program recording medium, a data recording medium, and a computer readable carrier are provided to calculate an address on a data recording medium, corresponding to a reproduction start position, and read transmission packets starting from the calculated address. A stream analyzer(11) of a recording device(10) loads packets stored in a PAT(Program Association Table), PMT(Program Map Table), and PCR(Program Clock Reference), refers to an input PID(Packet IDentifier) of the transmission packet continuously, and outputs the PCR to a PLL(Phase Locked Loop)(12). The stream analyzer counts the number of inputted transmission packets and outputs the count value to a null packet generator(14) as a packet number. The PLL aligns 27 megahertz system clock signals by means of the PCR input and outputs the clock signal to a counter(13). The counter is synchronized with the inputted system clock signal and counts the arrival time clock. |
