A sound processing device and a method thereof are provided to distinguish harmonic and non-harmonic regions of a sound signal precisely. A sound processing device includes a sound signal input part(110) for receiving a sound signal. A harmonic-noise separation part(130) separates a harmonic region and a noise region from each other in the input sound signal. A noise reduction index determining part(150) determines an optimum noise reduction index k according to circumstances and system states. A noise reduction part(140) reduces the separated noise region according to the noise reduction index and outputs the noise-processed signal.
