RECORDING MEDIUM, METHOD, AND APPARATUS FOR REPRODUCING TEXT SUBTITLE STREAMS

A recording medium and a method and an apparatus for reproducing a subtitle stream are provided to simultaneously reproduce text sub tile streams and main data and enable random access of the text sub tile streams. The entire sub title stream is pre-loaded within the sub title preloading buffer(10). Font information related to the text sub title is preloaded within a font preloading buffer(20). A graphic plane(40) is used for controlling a display screen. A color look up table(50) provides a control value for controlling transparency. When an optical disc is loaded, a microcomputer(60) reads the necessary files so that data stream recorded in the optical disc is reproduced. Thereafter, the microcomputer reproduces a playlist related to the reproduction titles selected by a user.
