The method involves handling a tubular reticular structure (1) obtained by extrusion (2) of a synthetic plastic material. The filaments of the structure, which form the lattice sides of the reticule, are thicker at the points of intersection than the actual thickness of the filaments. The plastic material is subjected, in the hot condition and in its flattened tubular configuration, to operations of two-dimensional molecular orientation by drawing. The drawing is followed by an operation of evening out the thicknesses of the reticular structure by rolling the structure. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an installation for implementing the method; and (2) a reticular material resulting from the method.
