METHOD OF COMPENSATING SOC FOR BATTERY AND BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING THE SAME

A method of compensating SOC(State Of Charge) for a battery and a battery management system using the same are provided to prevent an operation error of the battery by calculating the SOC of the battery accurately. In a method for correcting SOC(State Of Charge) of a battery in a battery management system, a first OCV(Open Circuit Voltage) corresponding to a first SOC is calculated by detecting the first SOC. A second OCV is calculated by measuring a pack current and a pack voltage of the battery and using internal resistance, and a second SOC corresponding to the second OCV is calculated. The range of the first SOC includes at least two sections, and the first OCV value is compensated by using a first compensation value corresponding to the first SOC among two compensation values corresponding to the two sections when the first OCV is larger than a first reference value as compared to the second OCV by comparing the first OCV with the second OCV. The first OCV value is compensated by using a second compensation value corresponding to the first SOC among two compensation values corresponding to the two sections when the first OCV is smaller than a second reference value by comparing the first OCV with the second OCV.
