A method and system for providing a car number service are provided to prevent secondarily possible crimes by enabling a user to receive a call, which a caller makes through a car number only, together with information location of the caller. The phone number of a destination terminal and a car number are registered(S310). An origination terminal downloads a CNS(Car Number Service) program for converting a car number into a code in order to use the CNS(S320). A CNS request is received from the origination terminal(S330). The phone number of the destination terminal is searched for a connection to an HLR(Home Location Register), and a call request signal is transmitted to the destination terminal(S340-S360).
