A secondary battery is provided to prevent leakage of an electrolytic solution by improving airtightness of a combination part of a cap assembly. The secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly, a can for accommodating the electrode assembly, and a cap assembly to be combined with an opening of the can. The can assembly comprises a cap plate(110) to be combined with the opening of the can, an electrode terminal(130) installed through a terminal through hole formed on the cap plate(110), a gasket(120) that is placed around the electrode terminal(130) and insulates the cap plate(110) from the electrode terminal(130), a terminal plate(150) that is installed under the cap plate(110) and is combined with the lower part of the electrode terminal(130), and an insulating plate(140) that is placed between the cap plate(110) and the terminal plate(150). An upwardly protruded first prominence(145) is formed on the upside of the insulating plate(140) of the periphery of a hole formed on the insulating plate through which the electrode terminal(130) passes. A first fixation groove is formed at a position corresponding with the first prominence(145) in the underside of the cap plate(110) and is united with the first prominence(145). The inner side of the first prominence(145) contacts the lower and outer side of the gasket(120). |
