A low-power traffic control method in a wireless sensor network using a media access control method is provided to lengthen the life span of mobile terminals in a wireless sensor network and guarantee QoS. A designated backoff time that previously designates the order of accessing at least one or more real-time terminals that want to transmit real-time packets is allocated. A backoff procedure is performed to allow a real-time terminal whose backoff time is 0 to transmit real-time packet data. The backoff procedure is performed on at least one or more non-real time terminals that want to transmit non-real time packets to allow a non-real time terminal whose backoff time is 0 to transmit non-real time packets. When data transmission is failed during transmission of the non-real time packets, an arbitrary backoff time is allocated to the corresponding non-real time terminal. When the arbitrary backoff time lapses, transmission of the non-real time packets is attempted again. |
