The process for the differential diagnosis and the assessment of the treatment efficacy in stenocardia patients provides for the conventional clinical and instrumental examination of the patients with the ischemic heart disease with the stenocardia attacks. The pain sensations in the thoracic region are analyzed, and the standard antianginal therapy is provided. When the attacks of stenocardia persist, the digestive system is examined. In the case of the contraindications to endoscopy or the doubtful results, the trial therapy with the protein pump inhibitor is performed at a dose of 20 mg twice a day before the meals. One week later, the efficacy of the treatment is assessed. When the postural attacks of stenocardia terminate, the gastroesophageal reflux disease is diagnosed. Then the standard course of the treatment with the protein pump inhibitor is performed followed by the maintenance therapy at a dose of 10 mg for 8 weeks.
