The plant has a gas generator (100) with automatic ash removal, and a cyclone (306) that is connected to the gas generator by using a line. A diesel engine (800) is operated by a gas e.g. pyrolysis gas, generated in the gas generator, where ash in the generator and solid substances in the cyclone are supplied to a fluidized bed gasifier (200) and the exhaust gas from the gasifier is fed back into the gas generator. An absorption gas cooler (600) is provided for cooling the gas.
