The device (8) has a lever (10) fitted at a moving window pane. The free lever end (11) co-operates with an operation element (12) at the frame to move the lever from a locked position with an open window to a free position with a closed window. A switching lock unit is coupled to move with the lever and co-operates with a drive rod element (18) or other force transmitter covering a locking rail (15). The drive rod element releases the lever in the free position and blocks its movement in the locked position.
