A method and an apparatus for outputting data from a semiconductor memory are provided to enable to vary the pull-up or pull-down slew rate and the data output timing by adjusting a bias level applied on the semiconductor memory. An output device of a semiconductor memory includes a bias generator(500), a slew rate controller(700), and a data output unit(20). The bias generator generates a bias corresponding to a preset value. The slew rate controller controls a pull-up or pull-down slew rate of input data according to the bias generated at the bias generator. The data output unit outputs the data according to the slew rate, which is controlled by the slew rate controller. The bias generator includes a register, a level switching unit, an output controller, and a bias output unit.
