A plasma display apparatus is provided to improve brightness by performing an alignment process in a manufacturing process and maximizing an effective screen. A panel includes a plurality of cells. A barrier rib(540) is formed to define a plurality of discharge cells in a discharge space within the panel. A black frame(530) is formed to define an effective screen and an ineffective screen of the panel. The black frame is used for covering a part of one or more cells of outermost discharge cells. The outermost discharge cells of the effective screen defined by the black frame is formed with effective discharge cells(520) or dummy discharge cells(510).
