The present invention relates generally to call control system sub-processes for a telephone private branch exchange, and, more particularly, to the configuration of mailboxes for those sub-processes. A call control system comprising a plurality of processes, a mailbox for each of said processes, a nd wherein one of said processes, is responsive to a fullness measure of corresponding said mailbox, for altering the size of said corresponding mailbox during run time is provided.
