摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for miniaturizing a differential mechanism whose differential action is operable, or for improving fuel costs and the power generating efficiency of a power generation source. <P>SOLUTION: A speed change mechanism 10 is switched to a stepless speed change status and a stepped speed change status by installing a changeover clutch C0 or a changeover brake B0 so that it is possible to provide a drive unit equipped with both merits of the fuel cost improving effects of a transmission whose change gear ratio is electrically changed and the high transmitting efficiency of a gearwheel type gear for mechanically transmitting a power. Also, a differential part 11 is put in a stepless speed change status by a changeover control means 50 during 4WD traveling where a second driving wheel 39 is driven by a third motor M3 so that a first motor M1 as a power generation power source which is turned to be a power source according to power generation by the output of an engine 8 can be controlled at a rotating speed whose power generation efficiency is satisfactory by the differential action of the differential part 11 differently from such a case that the differential part 11 is put in a non-stepless speed change status, and that a first motor rotating speed N<SB>M1</SB>or an engine rotating speed N<SB>E</SB>is restrained by a speed V. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
