摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording material which contains a squalirium compound suitable for forming an optical recording layer of an optical recording medium for a short-wavelength recording light.

SOLUTION: The optical recording material is used for the optical recording layer of the optical recording medium wherein the layer is formed on a base, and the material contains the squalirium compound expressed by general formula (I).
