PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system for a vehicle to prevent route guidance efficiency from lowering even if a situation comes where an initial guidance route cannot help being bypassed during traveling. SOLUTION: A navigation ECU acquires road information via a VICS receiver (step S4). If the information includes information on a construction site which requires bypassing and which is included in a road comprising a traveling route of an automobile, the ECU sets an area of 200 meters long centering around the construction site as a construction site mode zone (step S5). If the automobile reaches the mode zone and travels a bypass road, the ECU inhibits re-search for a traveling route to a destination, calculates only a path vector direction of a road corresponding to the zone (step S12), and causes a display device to display a marker reflecting a present position of the vehicle on the road 1 (step S13).
