PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce impact on a brush holder 16 when an armature vibrates in the axial direction and suppress the resonance of a holder plate 15, by limiting the movement of the armature in the axial direction. SOLUTION: The armature has its movement in the axial direction limited by axial movement limiting means (step 8b and washer 12) provided on an armature shaft 8. A brush holding device for holding a brush 3 is fixed on an end frame 6 with its holder plate 15 abutted against the end face of the end frame 6 in the axial direction. Even when the armature is moved closest to the anti-end frame side, the brush 3 is not brought into contact with the brush holder 16 and a gap A is ensured between them. Thus, even when the armature vibrates in the axial direction, the brush 3 is not brought into contact with the brush holder 16.
