PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an e-mail system for automatically deleting or forcibly deleting e-mail exceeding a readable time limit and a readable frequency, by introducing the readable time limit and the readable frequency to the e-mail. SOLUTION: An e-mail transmitter transmits the e-mail to an external server by designating the readable time limit or the readable frequency of a receiver to the e-mail in transmission. The external server receives and stores the transmitted e-mail, and transmits the e-mail having URL of e-mail reception and a storage destination and a notice of the readable time limit or the readable frequency designated by the transmitter as the content to the receiver, and automatically alters the stored e-mail in a deleting or unreadable state when exceeding the readable time limit or the readable frequency. The presence of the external server is obviated by including the solving means in the service content of a portable e-mail apparatus, and the e-mail is stored on a mail server, and the e-mail is automatically altered to the deleting or unreadable state.
