PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing optically aligned film, capable of aligning optical alignment groups at a low irradiation amount and for obtaining ample liquid crystal alignment capability. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing optically aligned film, a composition containing a compound which has the optical alignment groups is applied on a substrate and, thereafter, a coated film is irradiated with a light having anisotropic properties, wherein the coated film is irradiated with a light having the anisotropic properties, while containing an organic solvent of 1 to 50 mass%. The compound, having the optical alignment groups, is desirably a compound having dichroic groups and most desirably is an azo compound. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
