PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of preventing aged deterioration of LED and elongating service life of the LED, in the refrigerator comprising the ultraviolet ray LED having a deodorizing function or the like. SOLUTION: This refrigerator provided with the LED 10 applying ultraviolet ray, in a storage compartment 11, and having a function of controlling growth of germ by irradiating food with ultraviolet ray, comprises an inside temperature detecting means 14 for detecting a temperature inside of the storage compartment, and a LED energization control means 12 for controlling the lighting of the LED in accordance with the temperature in the storage compartment. When the temperature in the storage compartment is in a prescribed temperature zone, the LED 10 is controlled to be lit, thus the deterioration of the LED caused by being driven outside of the prescribed temperature zone, can be prevented, and the refrigerator having sufficient service life to the light irradiating function of the LED can be provided.
