PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold release agent which has more light releasability than that of a mold release agent produced from a silicone resin, is free from migration, and has excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance, and to provide a mold release sheet having the same. SOLUTION: This mold release agent is characterized by containing an active ingredient obtained by cross-linking a prepolymer prepared by copolymerizing at least an alkyl (meth)acrylate and a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate with an isocyanate group-containing compound. The prepolymer may be a prepolymer produced by copolymerizing the alkyl (meth)acrylate, the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, and a silicon-containing (meth)acrylic acid, a silicon-containing (meth)acrylate, a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylic acid, a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic acid, a phenoxyalkyl (meth)acrylate and/or a phenoxypolyalkylene glycol (meth)acrylate.
