PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuser system for a xerographic device having improved self-stripping capabilities for a wide latitude of media without so much increasing strain energy in a raw material constituting a fuser member or pressure member. SOLUTION: At least during normal fusing of a medium, the pressure roll 10 is made to exert a predetermined pressure on the roll 12 so that a nip 14 is formed having a nip width between a fuser roll 12 as the fuser member and a pressure roll 10 as the pressure member. According to medium characteristics of user input, a stiffness detection result, etc., and a timing supplied from a leading edge detector 78, a load adjustment device such as a cam 72 and a load adjustment mechanism 76 is placed in operation to momentarily increase the exerted pressure and then the creep as a leading edge or other portion of the medium 16 passes through or in the vicinity of the nip. Consequently, self-stripping capabilities for the fuser roll 12 and pressure roll 10 are improved for various kinds of media 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
