In a machine for shaping internal or external gears, means are provided for moving the work spindle 18 to and from the cutter 10 for relief purposes by oscillating an eccentric sleeve 82. The sleeve is oscillated by a cam 108 and a lever 94. The work is rotated through gearing 62, 60, 24, 20, the relative movement between the gears 62, 60 during relief movements being insufficient to disturb the drive. The direction of relief movement can be adjusted by angular movement of a second eccentric sleeve 84. |
