An apparatus and a method for locking a display device are provided to allow only an authenticated user to use an EPF(Electronic Photo Film) function by locking the EPF function. An apparatus for locking a display device having an EPF function includes a key input unit(170) by which a user inputs a request instruction, various operation instructions and a password for locking, a storage unit(180), and a controller(160). The storage unit stores messages inputted by the user and a system program for the EPF function and a locking function. The controller controls the display device to display an image for locking when a locking instruction is inputted through the key input unit and controls the operation of the display device in response to a set locking password and locking information.
