A method of quickly booting a digital multi-function peripheral device is provided to decompress compressed files before the digital multi-function peripheral is booted to reduce an initial booting time of the digital multi-function peripheral. The time when a system is most frequently booted is detected(S10), and a time before the time is set as a compressed file decompressing time(S11). After the lapse of the compressed file decompressing time(S12), compressed files required for system booting are decompressed(S13). When the system is booted, the previously decompressed files are used. When initial system booting is accomplished, only the compressed files necessarily required for booting is decompressed. The other compressed files are decompressed if a predetermined lapse of time passes after the system is booted(S17).
