<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stock oil composition having the composition capable of providing a carbon material for an electrode of an electrical double-layer capacitor which can present high electrostatic capacity with sufficient reproducibility without manufacturing resultant pitch. <P>SOLUTION: The stock oil composition is for manufacturing a carbon material for an electrical double-layer capacitor electrode. In a saturation component, an aroma component, a resin component and an asphaltene component obtained by spreading the stock oil composition by a thin layer chromatography method, the saturation component is at least 25 mass%, the asphaltene component is not more than 16 mass%, the average molecular weight of the stock oil composition is not more than 960, and the aromatic carbon fraction (fa) of the stock oil composition is in the range of 0.22-0.72. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
