PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide active carbon excellent in adsorption/desorption of vapor fuel, and a canister using that.

SOLUTION: Activated carbon for adsorption/desorption of vapor fuel is composed in such a way that the ratio of pores of 20Åor smaller in diameter in which butane is highly likely to remain is 20% or less of pores of 100Åor smaller in diameter, and that the ratio of pores larger than 20Åand of 25Åor smaller in diameter which are effective for adsorption of low boiling point gas components is 15-25% of pores of 100Åor smaller in diameter.
