PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for molding a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material which is good in work properties, reduces costs, and can stably obtain a product of good quality. SOLUTION: An intermediate which forms a prepreg material with reinforcing fibers impregnated with a thermoplastic resin in a prescribed shape to be set in a mold is produced. Next, the intermediate produced in an intermediate production process is set in the mold. The intermediate set in the mold in a setting process is pressed, heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of the thermoplastic resin of the fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material, molded, and then cooled to a temperature lower than the melting point of the thermoplastic resin. In a molding process, the reinforcing fibers are already impregnated with the thermoplastic resin and the composite material can be molded in a relatively short time. A general purpose material is in the prepreg material. A series of molding work of heating, melting, cooling, and solidifying is not required to produce the intermediate so that costs can be reduced.
