PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle unit and a destination retrieval method capable of utilizing mail information for spot retrieval in navigation. SOLUTION: An Internet communication unit 52 in the on-vehicle unit receives mail information transmitted by the Internet following a mailing list, and a navigation unit 51 preserves a spot name, a spot address and a message included in the mail information in correspondence with a category. The navigation unit 51 displays a mail spot retrieval method as a menu item when a user instructs designation retrieval, displays a category list when the user selects the mail spot retrieval method, displays a list of the mail spot belonging to the category when the user selects a prescribed category, and performs the route search of the mail spot selected therefrom by the user as the destination.
