PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and easily collecting gold from aqueous waste water including a water-soluble sulfur-containing gold compound using an electrolytic decomposition technique, and to provide an apparatus to be used for collecting gold with the method. SOLUTION: The method for collecting gold from aqueous waste water including the water-soluble sulfur-containing gold compound comprises the steps of: adjusting the pH of the aqueous waste water into a strongly alkaline region; and electrolyzing the aqueous waste water to drop all or some of gold deposits formed on a cathode surface downward and collect the gold deposits.
