PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car device of an elevator equipped with a ceiling trunk capable of suppressing the space of the hoistway without degrading the working effectiveness in the maintenance/inspection operations on an elevator car. SOLUTION: The car device of the elevator is equipped with the ceiling trunk installed in such a way as rising and falling relative to the cage 3 of the elevator and forming a prescribed intra-car space over the undersurface of the cage ceiling 7, a trunk elevating/sinking device 12 installed between the car wall exterior surface of the cage 3 and the ceiling trunk for elevating and sinking the ceiling trunk, and an elevation/sinking guide device to guide the elevating/sinking direction of the ceiling trunk, wherein the ceiling trunk has a back face panel 9 provided outside the car wall for forming the side wall nearer the innermost of the ceiling trunk, side face panels to form the side walls, and a shield 11 provided between the cage ceiling part 7 and the trunk ceiling part 8 for forming the front side wall free of panel installation and with one end wound on a winding device 7a installed in the cage ceiling part 7 or the trunk ceiling part 8.
