PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism which surely prevents dust from being accumulated on a separation plate of a thermal transfer printer. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer printer comprises: a feeding-side roller; a take-up roller; a thermal head which transfers a dye of an ink ribbon, carried to the take-up roller from the feeding-side roller, to printing paper superposed on the downside of the ink ribbon; and a separation part which abuts on the ink ribbon, finishing the transfer of the dye, from the upside of the ink ribbon, so as to separate the orbit of the carrying of the ink ribbon from that of the carrying of the printing paper. Treatment for inhibiting the accumulation of the dust carried in the state of adhering to the upside of the ink ribbon is applied to the separation part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
