PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provider an electric water heater which drastically shortens the boiling time of water while a power source breaking action is avoided. SOLUTION: The electric water heater is so constituted that the heating is executed by the continuous current application for a prescribed time after the start of the heating by an automatic heating control means 12, the heating is executed by controlling the rate of the current application by an avoidance control means 14 after the passage of the prescribed time and the rate of the current application is controlled by the avoidance control means 14 corresponding to the sensing result of a voltage variation sensing means 10. Thereby, a user is not required to recognize the common use with the other devices and the water boiling time can be drastically shortened while the power source breaking action is avoided so that the efficient water boiling can be executed to improve the maneuverability.
