PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus capable of detecting a condition of an ink tank carried on a carriage by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: An inkjet recording apparatus comprises a carriage for carrying a recording head and an ink tank and moving, a paper discharging roller arranged on the downstream side of the recording head and discharging a recording medium, a spur arranged on the recording face side of the recording medium and rotating by following the paper discharging roller, and a spur holder for holding the spur and movable in the thickness direction of the recording medium so as to bring the spur into contact with the paper discharging roller and to separate the spur from the paper discharging roller.
