Disclosed is a water-dispersible resin composition having excellent storage stability which is capable of forming a coating film having a solidified smooth surface when applied onto a base. Specifically disclosed is a water-dispersible resin composition containing 0.01-5 parts by mass of a surfactant (C) per 100 parts by mass of a combination of 5-70% by mass of a side-chain crystalline resin (A) and 95-30% by mass of water (B). Also specifically disclosed is water-dispersible polyolefin resin composition containing a combination of 5-80% by mass of a modified side-chain crystalline polyolefin resin (G) and 95-20% by mass of water (B). The modified side-chain crystalline polyolefin resin (G) is obtained by modifying a side-chain crystalline polyolefin polymer obtained, for example, by polymerizing one or more higher a-olefins having 10 or more carbon atoms with a radical initiator, an organic acid and an anhydride or ester of an organic acid.
