An apparatus and a method for connecting/reproducing DIVX text data link are provided to connect and reproduce audio and video data of the first recording medium and text data of the second recording medium. A microcomputer(16) downloads an arbitrary one DIVX text tile provided by a personal computer connected with an interface member(19) to a flash memory(17) at a user's request. When performing the DIVX text data connection operation as the user's request, the microcomputer controls a reproducing system(12), reads audio and video data of the DIVX file recorded in the optical disc(10). An audio decoder(13) reproduces the read audio data as the audio with the MP3 format.
