摘要 An LCD is provided to reduce the area of a region where liquid crystal molecules are unstably aligned, thereby improving the response speed of liquid crystal molecules, by forming an alignment regulating structure of a plurality of constituent units. An LCD comprises a pair of substrates each having electrodes and a vertical alignment layer. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the pair of substrates. The liquid crystal layer is composed of liquid crystal molecules each having a negative dielectric anisotropy. Alignment regulating structures(30,32) are formed in respective substrates to control the aligning directions of the liquid crystal molecules. The alignment regulating structures are respectively formed by a plurality of constituent units(30S,32S).
