<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perfume composition capable of imparting fresh and cooling feeling to various products without giving an irritating feeling, specific smell, bitter taste, etc., and also aiming at the effect of improving perfume quality. <P>SOLUTION: This 1-(2-hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexyl)ethanone expressed by formula (1) does not have any irritating feeling, specific smell, bitter taste, etc., is excellent in the lasting property of fresh and cool feelings and also can improve the fragrance and residual fragrance of the perfume composition. By adding and incorporating the perfume composition containing the compound in beverages, foods, perfume cosmetics, daily use miscellaneous articles, orally used composition or medicine, it is possible to impart the fresh and cool feeling to the various products.
