OPTICAL DISK PLAYER AND LASER DIODE DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an optimum condition of high frequency superimposition with the existing circuit in a short time to reduce laser noise in reproducing an optical disk.

SOLUTION: A relation expression of a drive current indicating a light emitting property of a laser diode 2 and light emitting power is obtained. Average power Pa of a laser beam emitted from the laser diode and a target value of a modulation degree M (=Pm/Pa) being a ratio of average power Pa to peak power Pm are read out from a memory 11. A microcomputer 10 calculates the target values of a DC current supplied to the laser diode 2 and a high frequency current using these relation expressions, the average power Pa and the target value of the modulation degree M.
