PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the management of a image photographed for transferring to an external device and that photographed for storing on a storage means, such as media, even if failing in transferring the image when transferring the image from a photographing apparatus to an external device, such as personal computers. SOLUTION: In the case of setting for transferring the image captured by photography to the external device, such as the personal computers, when the image cannot be transferred to the external device successfully, the unsuccessfully transferred image is stored in a hierarchy differing from that of the storage means for storing the image captured by normal photography.
