PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head gimbal assembly and a disk drive unit having a particle filtering device for trapping particles generated from parts of the disk drive unit. SOLUTION: The head gimbal assembly comprises a magnetic head 31, a suspension on which the magnetic head 31 is mounted, and the filtering device for particles 409 which is attached to a front edge of the magnetic head 31. The disk drive unit comprises the head gimbal assembly. Further, the head gimbal assembly can be equipped with a micro-actuator. The particle filtering device is positioned at the front edge 310 of the magnetic head 31 which is a channel for the particles 409. The particles 409 generated from the parts of the disk drive unit, such as the head gimbal assembly and the like, are trapped by the filtering device for the particles 409.
